Receive £100, £150 or £200 for becoming a Clubmark accredited Club
What is CAPS?
The Club Action Planning Scheme (CAPS) is aligned to the Sport England Clubmark accreditation scheme. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs with junior sections operate to a set, consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards. Clubs achieving this accreditation are recognised nationally as having a well run club which is ACTIVE and ACCESSIBLE. This means getting the best out of everyone and giving everyone a sporting chance.
CAPS has three levels of accreditation Bronze, Silver and Gold. Bronze CAPS is the first level, incorporating the Clubmark criteria covering the areas of Safeguarding and protecting children and young people, quality coaching and officiating, competition, talent development, sports equality and good management.
Your club will need to put paperwork together as evidence that you are meeting the set criteria and some of your members will need to attend courses. Silver and Gold CAPS are about demonstrating further quality across the areas of coaching, officiating and developing volunteers.
There is no charge for registering for the CAPS scheme. All you need is a commitment to development and good, safe practice.
Why is CAPS good for your Club?
Working towards CAPS enables the club to develop in a wide range of areas such as:
- Increasing membership and retaining members
- Developing coaches, umpire and volunteers
- Developing links with schools
- Raising the profile of your club
- Adopting good practice with regards to duty of care and sports equality
England Netball have now introduced an incentives package for those clubs that accredit at Bronze, upgrade to Silver or Gold or re-accredit with the new assessment and support pack. Clubs will receive e-vouchers that can be spent at the England Netball online shop.
|New Bronze Club||£100|
There will also be ‘give-aways’ such as tickets to Test series games, and England Netballs signed by the England Team.
How to accredit
Register your club for CAPS by completing the Registration Form and returning to England Netball.
You will then be sent your CAPS Assessment & Support file and memory stick and your Netball Development Officer will contact you to arrange a time to meet with you and go through the process. The file is then assessed at a national assessment day and once CAPS has been achieved it is valid for four years.
