The Club Action Planning Scheme (CAPS) is aligned to the Sport England Clubmark accreditation scheme. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs with junior sections operate to a set, consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards. Clubs achieving this accreditation are recognised nationally as having a well run club which is ACTIVE and ACCESSIBLE. This means getting the best out of everyone and giving everyone a sporting chance.
CAPS has three levels of accreditation Bronze, Silver and Gold. Bronze CAPS is the first level, incorporating the Clubmark criteria covering the areas of Safeguarding and protecting children and young people, quality coaching and officiating, competition, talent development, sports equality and good management.
Your club will need to put paperwork together as evidence that you are meeting the set criteria and some of your members will need to attend courses. Silver and Gold CAPS are about demonstrating further quality across the areas of coaching, officiating and developing volunteers.
There is no charge for registering for the CAPS scheme. All you need is a commitment to development and good, safe practice.
