Young Umpire Award

The Young Umpire Award is the ideal opportunity to introduce and encourage youths aged between 13 and 18 years into officiating. The course is delivered via teachers and coaches in schools over a number of sessions accumulating to 6 hours plus additional practice.

Accredited Young Umpires will then be able to umpire within their own age group and below within their own school or schools tournament. If the Young Umpire attends an affiliated school or is an England Netball affiliated member through a club they then may umpire festivals, Youth Games, in local junior leagues (subject to league rules) etc.

They will hold their qualification until the end of the season when they turn 18 years of age. Upon recommendation, qualified Young Umpires may move directly to ‘C’ Award Assessment and must be affiliated to England Netball either via a school or club. If successful they would not have to attend a Netball Europe C award umpiring course.
